Winding Down Without Wine: What We’re Drinking This Week Instead

Healthy Alternatives To Drinking Wine

Here at WOW, we’re fans of enjoying life’s little moments and enjoying meals with family and friends. Often this includes having a glass of wine (or two) with dinner or out at happy hour. Wine helps us wind down after a busy day and is a fun treat to look forward to at dinner time. However, sometimes too much indulgence can leave us feeling tired, bloated, and fatigued during our morning workout. After researching healthy alternatives to drinking wine, we came up with a few of our favorites to drink during the week.

Health Benefits of Drinking Wine

There are known health benefits to moderate consumption of red wine varietals such as Pinot Noir. For example, pinot noir -which contains the largest amount of the polyphenol, trans-resveratrol- has known health benefits. This study shows that moderate consumption of the anti-oxidants and polyphenols found in red wine has been linked to cancer prevention and the prevention of cardio vascular diseases.

However, there are times when we want to forgo the carbohydrates, sugar, and alcohol in wine in order to increase our energy during the week and feel like our best selves.

Our Favorite Alternatives To Drinking Wine

Below is a list of what we reach for during particularly hectic weeks when we want to wind down after a stressful day. These healthy alternatives to drinking wine allow us to relax, yet at the same time allow us to wake up refreshed.

VYBES – CBD infused beverages

One of our favorite healthy alternatives to drinking wine, is to reach for a cold delicious beverage containing just the right amount of CBD. Our favorite one is made by Los Angeles-based company, Vybes.

VYBES CBD Los Angeles

With flavors like Blueberry Mint, Strawberry Lavendar, and Burning Mandarin, these natural juice based beverages are fun to drink. They all have a sweet refreshing taste thanks to the addition of Agave nectar and stevia to keep sugar content low.

We are particularly fond of the HoneyCrisp Apple Basil which comes packed with 25MG of CBD and tastes like a delicious juicy crisp apple with an herbaceous twist. For founder, Jonathan Eppers, Vybes is the answer to the general increase in stress and anxiety we are experiencing due to the fast paced world we live in.

Not only do we really feel a difference in our stress and anxiety levels after drinking Vybes, (thanks to the addition of 25MG of CBD), we wake up feeling relaxed and refreshed and ready to take on the day. These characteristics make VYBES a staple in our winding down without wine routine.

RELAXED MIND – Yogi Tea

In our opinion, tea is one of the most underated ways to wind down. A hot cup of aromatic tea is almost like magic. Filling you with warmth and gratitude for the comfort of your home and family. It always seems to do the trick for us on days we want an alternative to drinking wine.

Yogi Tea Relaxed Mind

We especially love tea formulated specifically for calming busy minds, such as the Relaxed Mind tea from Yogi Tea. Free of caffeine and packed with Helichrysum – believed by herbalist to uplift the subconscious- and Shankhpushpi – used in Ayurveda to support awareness – this Yogi tea helps us to relax and unwind after a long day of action. To round out the peaceful vibes, this tea uses lavender and sage to promote tranquility.

Pink Macadamia Moon Milk

When we’re feeling up for it, we like to mix up our own wind-down potion to induce a peaceful night’s sleep. Our Pink Macadamia Moon Milk recipe does just the trick when we feel like treating ourselves to the superpowers of adaptogens.
